David Yates: IRONMAN Performance & Coach
Areas of Specialisation: Long course triathlon, Road and time trial cycling.
Proudest Personal Achievement:I’ve completed a cycling Everest, two sub 10 hour Ironman’s, a couple of sub 3 hour Marathons and qualified for Cycling & Olympic Distance amateur world championships. However, my proudest moment would have been simply finishing my first Iron distance triathlon at Challenge Wanaka, NZ in 2011.
Favourite part of a triathlon: I love seeing people achieve goals, they thought were unattainable. I’ve been lucky to experience this first hand with athletes I’ve coached and with members of the general public, as a pace runner at the Melbourne (Half) Marathon. On a personal level, it’d be getting on the bike and trying to reel in the swimmers; I love the feeling of speed!
